The Carnegie Apartments is a stunning development in one of Dunfermline’s most iconic buildings. A change of use and redevelopment was approved by Fife Council to convert an empty listed building in Dunfermline town centre into 18 luxury flats. Previously an NHS Health Clinic, the category B-listed building in Inglis Street was redeveloped and split into one bedroom flats and two bedroom apartments.
The multi-million pound development now offers 18 contemporary and stylish homes finished to the highest of standards. Every fixture and fitting was chosen to the highest specification to retain the character and charm of the original property. The developer approached NPHS to design a discreet fire suppression system that would meet the Fire Safety Regulations set by the Scottish Government without compromising the aesthetics of the stylish apartments. As the iCO® water mist system pump connects directly to the mains water and doesn’t require a water tank this also saved the developer considerable time and money on the project.
NPHS were tasked with designing, installing and maintaining a high pressure water mist system for each individual apartment within the property development.
The simple design of the iCO® water mist system allowed the specialist installation team at NPHS to install the eighteen fire suppression systems in less than two weeks, with minimum disruption to the other trades on-site.
A small and compact iCO® pump unit was installed in each of the kitchen cupboards and only uses water from the mains when needed, saving vast amounts of water. In the event of a fire the iCO® system will discharge a calculated amount of water mist from the nearest nozzle, suppressing the fire efficiently without causing excess water damage.
The fire suppression system is checked and maintained every year by NPHS as part of an annual maintenance package. This ensures the system will perform as intended.
NPHS is an accredited water mist system installer with offices in Gateshead and Edinburgh. As one of the UK’s leading contractors they design, install and maintain fire suppression systems for homes and residential properties such as apartment blocks, care homes and student accommodation.
The iCO® water mist fire suppression system provides faster, safer and more reliable fire protection for homes and residential properties. All of our products are manufactured in the UK and installed worldwide by accredited fire suppression companies.
“This is a fantastic project in the heart of Dunfermline where we installed 18 iCO® water mist systems. Working with Paul and NPHS was a pleasure. They were quick, efficient and professional.”
