Double knock control panel for fire sprinkler systems
The Flow Controller reduces the risk of excess water damage from leaks in fire sprinkler system components in a range of buildings.
Fire sprinkler systems are an excellent way to protect you and your property from fire, however potential leaks or unwanted discharges of water can cause devastating damage if not controlled correctly. As fire sprinkler systems can produce a flow of water up to 240lpm this can be damaging not just for the property it is protecting but any surrounding properties.
The Flow Controller from iCO Products® offers ultimate peace-of-mind with additional protection for domestic and residential properties. It can be retrofitted to existing fire sprinkler systems or incorporated into a new system design to reduce the risk of excess water damage from leaks on system components.
The iCO® Flow Controller is for use on fire sprinkler systems where an unwanted release of water may cause irreparable damage to the building fabric or its contents. Escape of water from sprinkler systems can happen for a variety of reasons. The primary reasons include:
• Frost damage
• Mechanical damage to sprinklers or pipework
• Poor installation
• Degradation of pipework
• Contamination from other building materials
The iCO® Flow Controller operates with a double knock system and has an automatically-operating valve that will close or open depending on if there is a pipework leak or real fire. The valve will only reopen when smoke is detected by the smoke detection system to protect your property from water damage caused by false activation. All components can be discreetly hidden to combine safety with beautiful open plan living.
The iCO® Flow Controller is comprised of the following components:
A Flow Controller
B Valve monitoring
C Flow switch
D Actuated ball valve
E Power supply
F Fire alarm activated output relay
The iCO® Flow Controller has a monitored valve input, selectable run time and battery back up in case of a power cut.
Under normal conditions the sprinkler system will operate as normal. The sprinkler pipe work is full of water with all valves open.
In the event of a fire the smoke from the fire will trigger the fire detection system and the heat from the fire will operate the sprinkler. The sprinkler system will operate as normal with all valves open.
In the event of power, battery or smoke detection failure the valve will failsafe open. Ensuring the property and its contents are protected from potential fire.
In the event of a leak or accidental damage the water will run for 5 seconds. If the smoke detection does not operate, the actuated ball valve will close to stop the water running. If the smoke detection then operates due to a real fire, the ball valve will reopen to allow water to run through the system and control the fire.
After a system operation the actuated ball valve will close to stop the flow of water. If an unlimited run time is selected, the valves will remain open and the system will continue to run indefinitely until manually stopped.
The iCO® Flow Controller must be designed and installed by an accredited fire suppression company.
