The Jesmond Homes project in Newcastle Upon Tyne included a full refurbishment of two luxury 6-floor town houses. Each home is spanned over six floors and designed to provide natural light and space for the tenants.
Due to the open plan living design of the homes, building control had deemed the property a high fire risk and specified that a fire sprinkler system must be installed to protect the property from any potential fire damage. The client explored a number of options, including traditional fire sprinklers but was deterred by their aesthetics, so approached NPHS to design a discreet water mist system that would adhere to the BS:8458 fire regulations and satisfy the local Building Control Department.
NPHS were tasked with designing, installing and maintaining a high pressure water mist system for each of the six storey town house within the development.
The simple design of the iCO® water mist system allowed the specialist installation team at NPHS to complete the project within a matter of days, allowing the other trades on-site to finish the refurbishment on time and within budget. The fire suppression system is maintained every year by NPHS as part of an annual maintenance package. This ensures the system will perform as intended.
NPHS is an accredited water mist system installer with offices in Gateshead and Edinburgh. As one of the UK’s leading contractors they design, install and maintain fire suppression systems for homes and residential properties such as apartment blocks, care homes and student accommodation.
The iCO® water mist fire suppression system provides faster, safer and more reliable fire protection for homes and residential properties. All of our products are manufactured in the UK and installed worldwide by accredited fire suppression companies.
“iCO’s discreet nozzles are much less noticeable than standard smoke alarms which overcame the clients objection to having sprinkler heads installed.”
