A series of new build properties in Bromley, with convenient access to central London, required a fire suppression solution to meet building regulations.

Following advice from their architect and building control, the client was informed that the installation of a fire suppression system was necessary to comply with BS 8458. Due to the distance of the properties from the main road, fire services would be unable to meet the required response time – prompting the need for additional fire protection measures.

The homeowner was committed to preserving a sleek and modern aesthetic, with a particular emphasis on ensuring the fire protection solution would not clash with interior lighting or become a visual distraction on the ceiling.

Discussions between the architect and building control identified that a traditional sprinkler system would not be feasible due to limited ceiling space. To resolve this, the architect partnered with NPHS-UK to deliver a discreet, high-pressure water mist system that would meet fire safety regulations while maintaining the desired visual appeal.

Project

NPHS-UK were appointed to design, install, and maintain a full-coverage water mist fire suppression system throughout the property.

After reviewing the plans during an initial consultation, NPHS-UK conducted a free site survey and provided a tailored quote. The system design, layout drawings, and costings were submitted to Building Control by the client and approved within a matter of weeks.

Installation was completed by NPHS-UK’s expert team in just 10 days, with no disruption to other trades working on-site.

As the ceilings had already been plastered before work began, all first-fix pipework and routing had to be carried out from the floor above ground level. Fortunately, the floorboards had already been lifted prior to installation, allowing the team to begin work immediately and efficiently.
